We promote opportunities to nurture confidence, develop diverse skills and as a result, our pupils are well prepared to make a valuable contribution to life in modern Britain.
We are so proud of our outstanding Ofsted rating. Ofsted said:
The school is led by an inspirational headteacher who has the highest aspirations for pupils, committed staff are relentless and successful in their drive to improve the life chances for all pupils.
Staff have a detailed knowledge of pupils’ needs. They use this information to devise individual programmes of work that enable pupils to develop socially, emotionally and academically.
Consistently strong teaching and assessment, carefully tailored to individual needs, enable pupils to make rapid gains in their learning across almost all subjects.
Teachers work in close partnership with other professionals from health and social care to provide pupils with an exceptional quality of guidance and support.
Our School House System and Our Core Values
At Options Trent Acres School, it is vitally important that pupils experience a sense of belonging and value. We recognise, that for the vast majority of our pupils, previous negative and fragmented educational experiences and early childhood trauma may impact upon their ability to forge and maintain positive trusting relationships.
With this in mind, we have developed a House System underpinned by Fundamental British values of:
- Democracy
- The rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith
These core value form the basis of our own School Values:
- Everyone should be listened to (Democracy)
- Keep everyone safe by following the rules and making the right choices (Rule of Law)
- Be proud of who you are (Individual Liberty)
- Value each other and your surroundings (Mutual Respect)
- Be patient, kind and understanding to everyone (Tolerance)
Our Wonderful Clinical Team
Wellbeing & Clinical Team at Options Trent Acres
As well as delivering the best possible education, we also have a clinical team who provide care and therapy to benefit the children and young people in our school.
Our clinical team includes:
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Clinical Psychology
The clinical team works within OFG’s Wellbeing & Clinical Strategy to offer support to the students and staff team. This may be indirect work for example delivering bespoke staff training, clinical consultations, supporting the school’s communication package or direct involvement with a young person based on their assessed needs and current difficulties. Clinical provision is informed by current wellbeing research theory and evidence.
The whole school team supports therapeutic interventions to the students on a daily basis via, for example, implementing sensory programmes, communication strategies and supporting young people with compassion and warmth
